Medtronic announce a recall of certain pacemakers due to a malfunction
Medtronic is currently advising clinicians that it has identified a potential problem which may affect a certain type of pacemaker. The pacemakers are known as the Kappa® and Sigma® series. This subset of pacemakers accounts for approximately 2% of all Kappa and Sigma pacemakers implanted worldwide and relates to devices that mostly have been implanted for about five years or longer. The failure rate in this very small subset is very low, below 1% at this time.
